"Old Southern" Smothered Chicken

2 halves broiling chicken
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons flour
Salt and Pepper
Fat for frying
Butter
Juice of 1 lemon
1 cup water
Dip chicken in milk; sprinkle with flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
Fry in deep fat until brown, then take out and place in a roasting pan.
Dot with butter, sprinkle with lemon juice, and add 1 cup of water.
Place in a 325 to 350 degree oven and cook until tender. (about 1 hour)
Bast every now and then.
Serves 2
